In December 2025, the Annual Conference of China's Digital Economy Alliance and the Summit of Deans from 100 Universities on the Independent Knowledge System of Digital Economy was held in Beijing. This event was jointly organized by Tsinghua University and the Capital University of Economics and Business. The China Digital Economy Alliance was established in July 2025. It was jointly initiated by Tsinghua University and the Capital University of Economics and Business, with participation from more than 40 universities, research institutions, and leading enterprises. The alliance focuses on three key tasks: academic research, industrial transformation, and talent cultivation. It is committed to promoting diversified collaboration and integrated innovation in the field of digital economy, serving as an important collaborative platform to advance Chinese modernization.
At the opening ceremony, Peng Gang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the CPC and Vice President of Tsinghua University, stated that the digital economy has become a key indicator for measuring a country's core competitiveness, and constructing an independent knowledge system is a mission of the times that universities must shoulder. In recent years, Tsinghua University has leveraged its multi-disciplinary advantages to focus on cutting-edge topics such as platform economy and the allocation of data element property rights, establishing several high-level interdisciplinary platforms. It has actively explored new models for cultivating interdisciplinary talent in the digital intelligence era, nurturing versatile professionals with global perspectives and innovative capabilities. Additionally, it has played the role of a high-end think tank, providing policy support for the national digital strategy. In the future, Tsinghua will continue to deepen disciplinary development to support the high-quality growth of China's digital economy.
Wu Weixing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the CPC and President of the Capital University of Economics and Business, shared the practical experience of the university in the field of digital economy. He noted that new technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence are accelerating the restructuring of global industrial chains, with talent being the fundamental factor for gaining the initiative in digital competition. The Capital University of Economics and Business has actively responded to the national "Digital China" strategy, relying on the Beijing Digital Economy Development Research Institute to build interdisciplinary research teams and vigorously develop specialized fields such as digital economy and financial technology. As a co-initiator of the alliance, the university will continue to deepen collaborative talent cultivation mechanisms and build academic and practical communities with universities nationwide.
It is reported that the opening ceremony, the Dean Forum, and the closed-door meeting on the development of the China Digital Economy Alliance were held at Tsinghua University, while the second session took place at the Capital University of Economics and Business. The conference also featured five parallel sub-forums, where nearly 40 scholars from 26 universities engaged in academic exchanges on topics such as "Digital Economy and Digital Government," "Digital Finance and Intelligent Finance," "Data Elements and Data Governance," "Platform Economy and Digital Trade," and "Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation."
