Apr.6th, White Paper on Poverty Alleviation was released: China’ Experience and Contribution by the State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China.
The white paper comprehensively reviews the 100 years since the CPC united and led the people in the fight against poverty, especially since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, General Secretary Xi Jinping personally directed, deployed and supervised the war, gathering the strength of the whole Party, the whole country and the whole society to win the battle against poverty, which is a grand and magnificent journey, reflecting China’s progress in poverty reduction and China’s contribution to the world in an all-round way.
Besides preface and conclusion, the white paper consists of five parts: I. The Solemn Commitment of the CPC, II. Final Victory in the Fight Against Extreme Poverty, III. The Strategy of Targeted Poverty Alleviation, IV. Exploring a New Path of Poverty Alleviation, V. A Global Community of Shared Future Free from Poverty.

According to the white paper, the battle against poverty has been another great revolution in rural China, leading to historic and comprehensive changes. The campaign saw an end to the backwardness of poverty-stricken areas, boosted overall rural development, resolved the greatest threat to success in achieving moderate prosperity in all respects, and laid a solid foundation for building a modern socialist China and realizing the Second Centenary Goal. China has secured a complete victory in the battle against extreme poverty, eliminating overall and extreme poverty for the first time in its history of thousands of years, and realizing a century-long aspiration of the Chinese people.
China is home to nearly one fifth of the world’s population. Its complete eradication of extreme poverty, and it achieves poverty reduction goals set out in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 10 years ahead of schedule, according to the white paper, is not only a milestone in the history of the Chinese nation, but also a major event in the history of poverty reduction and even the history of human development, which making a major contribution to global poverty reduction and human development.
