July 11th, 2020, China & the Mid-East Cooperation Amid COVID-19 International Forum was held online, which was hosted by high-end think tank, China-African Institute, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and University of Sharjah. Xie Fuzhan, dean of CASS and president of the top think tank, and the dean of University of Sharjah delivered speeches respectively. Vice-president Cai Fang hosted the opening ceremony.
China and the Middle East, the two peoples have a long history of friendly exchanges, addressed Xie, taking the Silk Road as a link, the two sides have forged the Silk Road Spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit.The sudden outbreak of COVID-19 has had a severe impact on world economic development and people’s lives, and posed an unprecedented challenge to the development, stability and security of all countries. The two sides should further explore the connotation of The Times of “enriching the traditional friendship and elevating the level of bilateral cooperation”, and contribute wisdom and strength to deepening bilateral strategic cooperation, building “One Belt And One Road” with high quality and jointly building a China-Arab community of Shared future.
The dean of University of Sharjah applauded China’s rapid response and the superiority of national system to the COVID-19 outbreak, and the friendship between the UAE and China as well; The forum is also an important manifestation of bilateral cooperation.
Following several keynote speeches, the topics such as “Cooperation between China and the Middle East in the fight against COVID-19”and “Prospects for Cooperation between China and the Middle East in the Post-COVID-19 Era” were discussed.
