Hosted by Chinese Society of Social Sciences and organized by the Institute of Sociology of Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences , "Social Science Research" magazine, "West China" magazine, and Sichuan Society of Sociology, Party School of the Chengdu Committee of CPC, Chengdu Academy of Social Sciences, the sub-forum of the 2019 Academic Annual Meeting of Chinese Society of Social Sciences was held in Kunming, Yunnan from July 13th to 14th. The theme of this annual meeting is: “Retrospect and Prospect: Sociology and Social Changes in China”. The theme of the sub-forum is “Regional Balanced Development and Western Rural Governance”.
This sub-forum attracted nearly one hundred experts and scholars from universities and research institutes, such as Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhongshan University, Nanjing University, Chongqing University, Ningxia University, Shanghai Normal University, Sichuan Normal University, Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, Chengdu Academy of Social Sciences. Experts and scholars gathered in Yunnan University to discuss the regional balanced development of China and the western countryside governance.
Huang Jin, director of the Institute of Sociology of SASS and president of Sichuan Society of Social Sciences, on behalf of the organizer of the forum, expressed warm welcome to the experts and scholars from all over the country. After reviewing the historical origin of the sociology discipline in Sichuan Province, he introduced sociology in Sichuan and the development of sociology discipline in SASS to the experts . This forum invited Professor Chen Jiajian, a doctoral tutor of the Department of Sociology and Social Work of Sun Yat-Sen University, to make a keynote report. 21 experts and scholars from all over the country conducted in-depth discussion on four themes :“Theory Discussion of Rural Governance in West China”, “Poverty and Nationality”, “Experience Exploration of Rural Governance in West China”, “Party Construction Guiding Urban and Rural Community Development Governance" .
The annual meeting of Chinese Society of Social Sciences is the annual grand event of the domestic social sciences discipline. This year's annual conference has a total of 73 sub-forums, attracting more than 2,000 scholars from all over the country to participate in the conference and have in-depth discussions on China's social changes, population issues, and modern society transformation. The forum of “Regional Balanced Development and Western Rural Governance”hosted by SASS with a strong academic atmosphere and high academic achievements was spoken highly of by experts and scholars present.
